How can we sllow moving sand in smi desert area ?

this is for the purpose of housing project & an airport. the more instrumentally simpler tecnics,the know hows &means . to minimize or obstruct the blowing sand. ecological options :if planting trees ;what kinds &how or if any special devices&screens in multitude of rows .
