Would a coal miner and a registered nurse be able to emigrate to Australia from US?

My husband works in an underground coal mine in West Virginia and has heard of people getting offers to work in Australia. I will be finished with school in a couple years and we have read a lot of interesting things about Australia. Would it be difficult to find jobs in order to move? About how much does it cost to relocate? (We are a family of 5 but don't plan on taking much with us) Also would we be able to afford housing? It seems much more expensive than here.
